The future of Ortler Sky Trails
Dear runners from all over the world,
We have tried for a long time to unite you all in this beautiful Alpine region to run one of the Ortler Sky Trails and enjoy the scenery and the camaraderie.
The coronavirus already forced numerous events to cancel, and we still hoped that the difficult period would be transient. Then there were exit plans for the lockdown, and promising openings of borders: our hopes flared up.
We have to recognize that the coronavirus is an opponent not to be underestimated. Although the safety measures have been scaled down and hotels and restaurants reopen, we feel that having an event in the actual situation, with all mandatory safety measures to avoid contamination, would very much weigh on the happy feelings you are supposed to find in an event like ours.
We thank you for the great responses to our survey. It shows that our trail community is very supportive and empathetic towards this great event and us as a startup organization. A lot of you even proposed to help during the Ortler Sky Trails. We feel really very grateful for all your kind words.
Nevertheless the survey also showed that most of the participants think they will not (be able to) travel to Sulden am Ortler.
Therefore we took the painful decision to cancel the 2020 edition, and focus on an unparalleled 2021 edition.

Pop up Ortler Vertical
Like you, we are waiting for the situation to clear up. If we get authorization from the authorities, we will create a ‘pop up Ortler Vertical’ in compliance with all safety measures required by Südtirol. We aim for saturday 11 July, but we may move it to another date if necessary and there is a certain possibility we won’t be able or allowed to go forward. Keep your eyes open for more news!
